CéSAR Photo's redesign: where it beats Pixieset and Pic-Time, and who should choose it

Six points where CéSAR Photo does better, and a guide by profile: wedding photographer, professional event photographer, print seller, organizer with no photographer. Including the cases where Pixieset or Pic-Time are still the right choice.

CéSAR Photo gallery on a phone after the redesign

CéSAR Photo is the best choice for a wedding or event photographer whose guests need to find their own photos: selfie search is included from the first free event, with no app or account for the guest, whereas Pic-Time reserves it for its Advanced plan ($42 to $50 per month) and Pixieset doesn't mention it on its pricing page. Pixieset and Pic-Time remain preferable for a photographer whose income relies on selling prints or who wants to manage contracts, invoices and bookings in one place.

Pixieset and Pic-Time are excellent tools, but they were designed around the photographer-client relationship: the client gets a link, the photographer sells prints. The day 150 guests want their photos, that model jams: everyone scrolls through 1,500 images to find theirs, and the photographer resends them by hand. CéSAR Photo's redesign starts from the other side, the guest opening a link on their phone the day after the event. Here is where that makes the difference, then who should choose what.

The 6 points where CéSAR Photo does better

1. Selfie search is included everywhere, not in the most expensive plan

At Pic-Time, selfie search for guests is reserved for the Advanced plan ($42 per month billed annually, $50 monthly); the Beginner and Professional plans only give smart search to the photographer. Pixieset doesn't mention it on its pricing page. At CéSAR Photo it works from the first free event and on every plan: a photographer can therefore offer it to a client without changing subscription.

2. A gallery designed for the guest, on their phone

The redesign was built and tested at 390 px wide: the guest's photos display large as soon as it opens, the full-screen slideshow is swiped through and closed by pulling down, and input fields don't zoom the page on iPhone. The guest installs no app and creates no account: they open the link or scan the QR code, take a selfie and receive only the photos they appear in.

3. Pay per event, with no mandatory subscription

Pixieset ($8 to $40 per month) and Pic-Time ($7 to $42 per month) run on subscriptions, which makes sense for a photographer delivering all year. CéSAR Photo also offers a subscription (Pro at €29, Studio at €79 per month), but the first event is free and then each event costs €49: a photographer who only shoots a few events a year, or a client who wants a gallery for a single wedding, pays only for what they use. The two models don't cover the same scope, the print store being absent at CéSAR Photo.

4. Guests can add their own photos

In CéSAR Photo, guests can add their own photos to the gallery, completing the photographer's coverage with moments they didn't frame. Guests upload files straight from their phone, with no account, and you choose to publish immediately or moderate in bulk: at a 150-person wedding, that's hundreds of extra behind-the-scenes photos, something a classic client gallery designed for a single recipient doesn't offer.

5. EU-hosted data and a public compliance file

A selfie is biometric data under GDPR, which matters to a European photographer who is accountable to their clients. CéSAR Photo deletes the selfie after the search, hosts its database in Frankfurt and publishes in its trust center the impact assessment, the data processing agreement, the list of sub-processors and retention periods; guests can also refuse processing and request erasure. Pic-Time, for its part, states that it stores no face-scan data.

6. Four languages, including right-to-left Hebrew

The whole interface, organizer side and guest side, exists in French, English, Spanish and Hebrew, with true right-to-left display. For a photographer working in French-speaking, Spanish-speaking or Israeli communities, or for an event where guests speak several languages, everyone opens their gallery in their own language without configuring anything.

Wedding photographer: choose CéSAR Photo if…

You spend hours answering “can you send me my photos?” after every wedding, and you want guests to receive theirs the same evening. The couple gets a full gallery, each guest a personal gallery, and you keep control of the rest. Move to Studio (€79 per month) if you want white label, with your name and logo on the gallery. Keep Pixieset or Pic-Time alongside if you sell albums and prints to the couple: the two tools complement each other, one for sales, the other for distribution to guests.

Professional event photographer: choose CéSAR Photo if…

You cover galas, seminars, bar mitzvahs or corporate parties where dozens or hundreds of people each want “their” photos, and you chain events back to back. The Pro plan (€29 per month) gives unlimited events, 150 GB, 5,000 photos per event, 3 co-admins for your second shooter and advanced analytics; Studio (€79 per month) goes up to 500 GB, 10,000 photos per event, unlimited co-admins and white label. Compare with Pic-Time Advanced, the only Pic-Time plan that gives guests selfie search ($42 to $50 per month), keeping in mind that this plan also includes the store and unlimited storage.

When Pixieset or Pic-Time are still the right choice

Pic-Time is built around a print store connected to labs and marketing automations (abandoned-cart reminders, campaigns); Pixieset adds, with Studio Manager, contracts, invoices, questionnaires and a booking page, plus a website builder. If your business model is selling products to your clients or running your whole business from a single tool, they are more complete than CéSAR Photo. Also choose them if your events exceed 10,000 photos or you continuously archive more than 500 GB, two limits of CéSAR Photo (Studio plan).

And FotoOwl, Waldo? They are the two other closest face-recognition platforms. FotoOwl targets photographers with a subscription of $16 to $31 per month billed annually and delivery through WhatsApp credits; Waldo offers a Gold plan at $49.99 one-time and Plus at $7.99 per month. They are worth a look if WhatsApp is your main delivery channel; CéSAR Photo stands out with its complete four-language interface, customizable gallery (11 templates, moments, QR poster) and data hosted in the European Union.

Frequently asked questions

Which tool should a wedding photographer choose: CéSAR Photo, Pixieset or Pic-Time?

CéSAR Photo if you want each guest to find their photos by selfie without you resending them: the feature is included from the first free event. Pixieset or Pic-Time if your income mainly comes from selling albums and prints to the couple. Many photographers can combine both: a store for the couple, CéSAR Photo for the guests.

Which gallery should a professional event photographer choose?

CéSAR Photo Pro (€29 per month) or Studio (€79 per month) if your events bring together many guests who want their photos: unlimited events, selfie search included, co-admins for your team and white label on Studio. Pic-Time Advanced fits if you also need a print store and unlimited storage, or if your events exceed 10,000 photos.

Does Pic-Time offer face recognition for guests?

Yes: Pic-Time offers selfie search for gallery guests, but only on its Advanced plan ($42 per month billed annually, $50 monthly, according to its pricing page accessed October 12, 2026). Lower plans don't include it for clients.

Does Pixieset have selfie search or face recognition?

Its pricing page, accessed October 12, 2026, mentions neither face recognition nor photo search by guests. That doesn't prove the feature is absent: check with Pixieset directly.

Can I use CéSAR Photo alongside Pixieset or Pic-Time?

Yes. They don't do the same job: Pixieset and Pic-Time are for selling to and delivering to the client, CéSAR Photo is for distributing photos to guests by selfie. You can keep your usual sales gallery and import the same photos into CéSAR Photo for the guests.

How much does CéSAR Photo cost compared with Pixieset and Pic-Time?

CéSAR Photo: first event free, then €49 per event with no subscription; photographers can choose Pro (€29 per month) or Studio (€79 per month). Pixieset: $8 to $40 per month billed annually. Pic-Time: $7 to $42 per month billed annually. These offers don't cover the same scope: Pixieset and Pic-Time include a print store, CéSAR Photo does not.
