Google Photos or CéSAR Photo for a shared wedding album?
Is a Google Photos shared album enough for a wedding? What it does well, its limits for guests, and when a face-recognition gallery is better.

A Google Photos shared album is free (within your Google storage quota) and handy for gathering photos from relatives who already have a Google account, but it does not let a guest find THEIR photos with a selfie; CéSAR Photo is built for that: each guest scans a QR code, takes a selfie and receives only their photos, with no account to create.
| Criterion | CéSAR Photo | Google Photos |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, then €49 per event | Free within the Google quota (saved photos count toward storage) |
| Selfie-based photo sorting | Yes, by selfie | No selfie search for guests |
| No app for guests | Yes (browser) | Google account needed for direct sharing; link sharing possible |
| Built for an event | Yes: QR code, gallery themes, poster, slideshow | No, general-purpose photo tool |
| Interface languages | French, English, Spanish, Hebrew (right-to-left) | Many languages (depending on the device) |
| Personal data | Selfie deleted after the search, model run by CéSAR Photo itself, database in the EU | Data managed by Google, depending on account and settings |
The differences in detail
Google Photos answers a simple need very well: gathering a few relatives' photos in one album. It shows its limits once the wedding grows: guests without a Google account go through a link, saved photos use each person's storage, and nobody can find their photos without scrolling the whole album. CéSAR Photo adds what an event needs: a printable QR code, selfie search, a gallery in the wedding's colors, ZIP download.
When to choose Google Photos
Choose Google Photos for a small circle (close family, friends already on Google) and a zero budget, or if you simply want to keep the photos in your personal library without configuring anything.
When to choose CéSAR Photo
Choose CéSAR Photo as soon as you expect more than a few dozen photos, not all your guests have a Google account, or you want everyone to find their own photos, including the grandparents who will never scroll through 800 shots.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Google Photos?
For a wedding where guests need to find their photos, CéSAR Photo is a better-suited alternative to a Google Photos album: QR-code access without an account, selfie search and a gallery dedicated to the event.
Google Photos or CéSAR Photo: which is cheaper?
Google Photos is cheaper: it is free within your Google quota. CéSAR Photo has a limited free plan (100 photos, 30 days), then CéSAR One at €49 per event for 5,000 photos and 12 months.
